ZooTampa

Here’s how it happened.

Five-time winner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence (2010-2015), ZooTampa at Lowry Park is one of the most popular zoos in the southeastern U.S., with over 1 million visitors annually. ZooTampa has grown to what now encompasses 56 acres of naturalistic animal exhibits in a lush, tropical garden setting. The zoo offers popular educational programming, fun recreational amenities, up-close animal encounters and engaging seasonal events for which it has won accolades as one of the country’s most family-friendly zoos.

Having support essentially at my fingertips has made this process extremely easy. FMX freed up my time in the day to do other things, not just organize the mess that was left to me from the previous system. I’ve gotten my day back, which is huge.

Challenges

Prior to FMX, ZooTampa was using a maintenance system that lacked support for their industry’s specific requirements. Staff members were unable to put schedule requests in the system, which made reserving spaces for activities and events very difficult. In addition, the system didn’t have effective mobile access, unless ZooTampa paid additional fees. Because of the demanding on-the-go environment of a zoo, not being able to track, close out, and respond to work orders on the go was affecting their team’s performance.

Implementing FMX

ZooTampa recently implemented FMX for their facilities and could not have been happier with their experience. By creating their own implementation plan, and starting their experience with a free trial of FMX, the facilities coordinator had the solution running effectively in just 2 weeks. Because FMX’s Customer Success Team imported all of their data quickly and efficiently, ZooTampa was able to focus solely on their business processes, which made the implementation process far easier than the team anticipated. In addition, ZooTampa’s dedicated Customer Success Manager worked in partnership with the facilities coordinator to ensure the implementation was carefully aligned to their unique business processes.

Post launch quick wins

In their previous system it took 30 minutes to create a preventive maintenance task, but it now only takes two. FMX has also supported their company-wide goal of becoming a “greener” organization; since implementation, the zoo has cut paper waste by an astounding 99%.

Moving forward

Moving forward, the team plans to use the reporting features to collect data that helps justify the status of their work, as well as future expenses.
